Setup Guide

Set up your Geiger in 5 minutes.

Three short steps: get the cube on your Wi-Fi, install the app, and sign in. No command line, no IP addresses, no technical knowledge.

What your cube shows first

STEP 1

Plug in the cube

Connect it with the USB-C cable to any charger or PC port. In a few seconds the screen lights up yellow.

  1. Power it on
Plug in the cable — the screen turns on by itself.
  2. Look for the “Wi-Fi setup” screen
It shows a network name like Geiger-XXXX at the bottom. You'll use that next.

STEP 2

Connect it to your Wi-Fi

You only do this once, from your phone, to tell the cube your home network.

  1. Join the cube's network
On your phone, open Wi-Fi settings and tap the Geiger-XXXX network (no password).
  2. The setup page opens
It usually pops up by itself. If not, open your browser to 192.168.4.1.
  3. Enter your home Wi-Fi
Type your normal Wi-Fi name and password, then tap Save & connect.
  4. Switch your phone back
When you see “Wi-Fi saved ✓”, reconnect your phone to your normal Wi-Fi. The cube restarts and shows a 6-digit code.

STEP 3

Install the app & sign in

A small free app on your PC reads your usage and sends it to the cube. It runs quietly in the background.

  1. Download & run the installer
Get it from the download page. If Windows shows a blue warning, click More info → Run anyway (normal for new apps). Keep “start on login” ticked.
  2. Sign in with Claude
In the setup window, click Open sign-in, approve in your browser, then paste the short code it gives you back into the window.
  3. Enter your cube's pairing code
Type the 6-digit code shown on the cube, then click Finish.
  4. Done — watch it go live
Within ~30 seconds the cube shows your usage. 🎉 Leave the app running; it keeps the cube updated and starts with your PC.
Your data stays yours. Your usage is read from your own Claude account on your own PC. Geiger has no account to create, and you stay signed in — you won't have to do this again.

Troubleshooting

My phone won't connect to “Geiger-XXXX”

Make sure you're joining the Geiger-XXXX network, not your home one. If your phone warns “no internet,” choose Stay connected. Turning mobile data off for a moment helps your phone use the cube's network.

The setup page (192.168.4.1) won't load

Type the full address http://192.168.4.1. Still nothing? Turn mobile data off briefly, or forget the Geiger-XXXX network and rejoin it.

The cube says “Waiting”

That means your PC isn't sending data. Check the PC is on and awake, and that the Geiger icon is in your system tray (bottom-right, behind the ^ arrow). If it's not there, open Geiger from the Start menu.

It mentions being disconnected or signed out

Open the Geiger tray icon and choose Sign in with Claude again. Your cube will reconnect on its own afterwards.

I need to re-enter the pairing code

Right-click the Geiger tray icon → Set pairing code… and type the code shown on the cube.
